The works of Trevor Brown

Please note. Some people may find the works of Trevor Brown offensive.

The website I chose to analyze is the page of infamous "shock" artist(I use the term, very, very loosely. SURELY peoples attitudes are little less... uptight by now, haha). Trevor Brown.
His site can be found here.
He has held many exhibitions around the world and has done prints for many magazine publications, and album covers for alot of different artists. Most memorable was his cover for John Zorn's album "the gift", and Venetian Snares horse and goat Ep.
He is an English artist that currently resides in Japan.
He is frequently criticized for his use of "taboo" imagery. Paintings of a perverse and obscene nature lurk upon his canvas'. But art is art. A thing prudish people often forget.
It's almost immediate as to what Trevor Brown art is all about the moment you get to the baby art site. It's actually had a recent makeover, as the old one was a bit "clunky" and it was really unclear how to navigate through the site and see selected works.
This one is aesthetically far superior and alot more user friendly than the previous one. It really compliments his work
It's very well constructed. The use of black, grey, pink and purple strike me as cute and nightmarish all at once. I absolutely love the color scheme.
It stands out to me alot better than many other websites. Personal taste? Most likely. But I think it's gorgeous.
I can imagine if somebody was completely unfamiliar with his works, they might feel a little uncomfortable when arriving at the Trevor Brown mecca that is "baby art". But I love the grey background with the pink dots. They have a certain contrast to some of the artwork, and a similarity to others.
The side navbar has six main categories.
news, books, other editions(which is basically more books), galleries, information, and etc. They all expand as you click on them to sub-categories. Pretty straight forward stuff. You can navigate to most of his works through these categories.
Being a Japanese resident, the 1st choice in the news section is Japanese, then there is the blog, in English, which is rich with imagery. All the imagery used, of course, are creations of Trevor Browns. The fairy riding the giant, studded dildo, and the baby head sprouting internal organs.
The text is very clear and easy to read.
Etc contains, links, e-cards to send to your friends, and tattoos, which is basically I guess, similar to fan-art. I'm assuming people send in their pictures of tattoos of his art they got on themselves.
One of the links is also to a project of his called little miss sticky kiss, but I didn't navigate to it, though feel free to if you wish, as he does regard it as one of his greatest achievements.
Information drop down menu has a few different things in it. His resume(which is quite a laugh, as it reminds me of friends of mine that went to art school), FAQs, interviews and articles, and a list of his past exhibitions..
There is a contact button down the bottom left corner, should there be any confusion(which SURELY you shouldn't have).
Very easy to navigate around through the blog area, which is also full of hyperlinks, so even if the paragraphs written are not clear to you, they will be after a few simple clicks.
So in conclusion, being a fan of his work(initially and largely due to being an avid fan of John Zorn), I feel this site is an excellent example of his works, and it keeps you frequently updated with his exhibitions and new works.
Which is quite a feat, that the artist takes completely upon himself to update keep you informed, and lastly, makes you feel like an appreciated fan.
It definitely shows through that you're on the site owned and run by the artistic genius that is Trevor Brown.
Beautiful, violent, terrifying, often cute, and ALWAYS unforgettable.
